Trinity Rayne Has Something To Say

Trinity and her little sister Rayven for Trick or Treat 2009

Trinity and her little sister Rayven for Trick or Treat 2009

My 3 year old daughter has such an inventive mouth.

Every time we go somewhere she has something to say and is so observant.

It would be impossible to pick just one time that stood out more than the other.

One day we went to Wal-Mart to do some grocery shopping and everything was running smoothly, so I should have seen something coming. Out of no where she says as loudly as she can ”Oh my gosh! Mommy that man needs a shower!”

I was shocked and I am sure my face was red as an apple. I told her that is not nice to tell someone whether it is true or not.

Unfortunately and fortunately she has a bit of a quick wit for a three year old.

Another trip out resulted in an obvious but unnecessary comment that could have gotten us into trouble.

While waiting at the eye doctors Trinity decided to turn to the man sitting next to us and comment ”Wow you’re hairy!”

Once again, a fact that may have been true but not necessary to tell the man as I am sure he knew already!

And probably what could turn out to be the most embarrassing infatuation of hers would have to be an idea I am sure she got from The Simpsons TV Show.

Every time we see a police officer she has to yell out” Oh no! The coppers! Run! They are gonna get us! Ha ha ha!”

Knowing how she behaves and blurts out whatever she’s thinking I had to act quickly on Halloween.

While trick or treating a patrolman pulled up to pass out candy and I saw her little jaw drop. As soon as I saw that I covered her mouth and led her in the other direction.

Awkward situation averted, for now.

And of course her little sister thinks the world of her and follows in her foot steps.

So now I have two little opinionated princesses that like to spread their opinions freely.

The hardest part is trying to not laugh when the things they say are funny and to be the responsible mommy I know I should be.

Kids really do say the darndest things!

Well, we wanted them to talk!
by: Laura

As parents, we are so eager for our children to start talking.

But I have had so many instances of wishing my children would just keep their mouths closed!

Like when you're thanking your friend for bringing soup over when you are sick, and your lovely child blurts out, "Mom, you hate that kind of soup!"

Out of the Mouths of Babes!
by: Judith

I can certainly relate to the potential for embarrassment when going shopping with a verbal (although honest) little one.

I had taken my four year old granddaughter shopping and took some clothes in to the fitting rooms (which all had open ceilings, so everyone else could hear very distinctly).

As I went to try on some new pants, she very loudly asked, "Grandma, why is your butt sooo big?"

I could hear the laughter from the other dressing rooms!

It shall resove itself with time
by: Ansh

My experience is similar to you.

I faced the same situation with my two kids when they were a bit younger but as they grew up this problem resolved itself.

All we need is patience and to keep reminding them of a better way to do things.

Thanks for the story!

Very Funny Story!
by: Lance

Dear Brandy,

This is Lance from the Preteen Thru Teenage Parenting Action Guide thanking you for that very funny story.

Even if your daughter had blurted out her 'Copper' line to the Police Officer, the officer would have just laughed (I think) - But that was soo funny to hear about it.

Thanks again for the story and enjoy the great happenings that your smart little girls will lead you into - every day a new adventure!

Wishing you Happy Parenting now and always!

Lance Dobieski
