The Day Privacy Went Out the Window

by Hayley's Mom
(Mississippi, USA )

Hayley Leaning Against A Toilet

Hayley Leaning Against A Toilet

Hayley was just 14 when she discovered the world of computers.

Sure, for the first few months, games and emails and MySpace dominated her idle fingers on the keyboard.

But soon, young Hayley discovered the webcam.

She used it only a few times in a chatroom before learning that she could use it for far different purposes.

You see, Little Hayley had a boyfriend, a boyfriend of 16. And his mind was on one thing. And he pressured little Hayley into doing that thing on the webcam with him.

Oh, how wonderful the intense passion felt for young Hayley. She quivered with desire as the young man gave her everything.

Just days later, Hayley discovered that her monthly cycle was disrupted.

She told her mother, and her mom confirmed every teen girl's worst nightmare.

Indeed, a small child was already forming in Hayley's womb.

She was only 14, and now privacy was nothing.

Thousands of men had seen the video the boy posted.

But once the boy heard of the shocking news, he was nowhere to be found.

And Hayley felt all alone with her baby forming inside. She'd been tricked and violated.

I hope this story will remind girls of several lessons.

Parents, help your child with the internet, with sex, and with boys.

The reality of technology
by: Jessica

Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, ichat...the list goes on and on. There really seems to be no end to the number of connections between our personal lives, and the public.

Unfortunately, this kind of story is not unique. In fact, it's become downright common.

As a people, we tend to gloss over the ugly truth of the "too much information" decade. It really takes a story like this one to remind us of the dangers of irresponsible sharing.

Hayley's mother, thank you for stepping up to share this story.

So true in today's society
by: Dawn

Thank you for opening up and allowing others to learn from your experience.

With a grown son and two young daughters I am very much aware of the thoughts and false promises of both boys and girls.

We have to be proactive when it comes to our children and the internet!

There are so many out there whose purpose is for their own satisfaction without thought of consequence to those they are using.

Be aware and never let down your guard when it comes to your children's safety!

This is a very sad situation with a learning experience!
by: Tiffany

This is very sad.

A mother has to hear about this from her child.

The Internet is full of many ways that will brain wash a persons mind into thinking that it is okay to exploit oneself.

But, the question to this matter is why do teens get themselves involved with these types of actions?

Now, this young girl is left alone to fend for herself.. It is obvious that her boyfriend does not love her, because if he did he would have never put her on display for the world to see.

This shows that life can become very diminished for people if they don't make the right decisions and that bad decisions will hurt others, and themselves too.

Privacy and Minors Don't Mix
by: Lance

Dear Hayley's Mom,

Thank You so much for sharing this story with us.

What a heart break to hear that at only 14 years old all this had to happen to your beautiful daughter.

Your warnings about children and sex and the internet are all warnings every parent should take seriously.

My own 14 year old son says parents have no idea how much preteen and teenage sex is actually going on, and boy is he right.

Parents should not give their children privacy but should know what they are doing and with whom and when and for how long and all the rest.

Privacy is for when you are an adult and are paying your own way in life - it is earned and not just given out for the asking.

I also mention within this website how girls who date older boys are MUCH more likely to have sex with them.

Parents should be aware of these and other factors and act accordingly.

I hope you and Hayley are doing fine now, and parents the world over are much the wiser for you having shared your story with us here.

Wishing you Happy Parenting now and always!
