The Biggest Shock My Parents Could've Recieved

by Yvonne Sanchez
(El Paso, Texas, USA)

Hello my name is Yvonne and I was only 15 years old when I got pregnant.

I was only a high school sophomore in November of 2008 when I conceived.

At the time I had no idea I was pregnant and in December when I missed my menstrual cycle I didn't think much of it since I was always irregular. I thought that maybe since I was under stress I was just going to be late.

One week passed and then another and then another and I still had no menstrual cycle, util Christmas Eve morning I woke up to the biggest shock of my life.

I had never experienced morning sickness and I thought that maybe I was getting sick.

Days went by and I continued waking up with morning sickness, so I decided to call my boyfriend and notify him of the situation since I had done research and it said that women get morning sickness when they are about two weeks into their pregnancy.

He had returned from Colorado and we both went to purchase 5 pregnancy tests. To my surprise all 5 pregnancy tests came out positive.

I was truly scared and I knew that we had to tell me parents.

We both decided to not tell my parents about the pregnancy till I was showing.

Three months went by and I was still not showing.

I only thought I was three months pregnant because of the research I had done when in reality I was already four months along.

In March 2009 my boyfriend and I split up and at the time we still had not notified either of the families about my pregnancy.

He thought that I was making up being pregnant so I could keep him around.

I was still not showing that I was pregnant and I really didn't want to tell my parents because I was so scared that I just decided to hide it more, for just a little longer.

In June my family and I went to Disneyland and I was already 7 months into my pregnancy.

I went on every single ride at Disneyland. I even got on the tower of terror ride; not just once but three times. I would see signs that said if you are pregnant not to go on the ride but since my parents didn't know I didn't want to give them a reason to think I was pregnant.

When we came back from Disneyland I had my yearly physical and of course I was scared of them finding out about my pregnancy. As I was laying down waiting for my doctor to check my stomach I was praying to God that my baby wouldn't move for just a few minutes.

They finished my physical and the doctor felt nothing; she just said I was fine.

The month of July came and I started working and I was already 8 months pregnant. I would get home from work and I would be tired and my feet were so swollen. I would had my mom rub my feet every night.

August came around and school started and ironic enough a week before school started I went online to this other website were you can find out your due date and I found out I was due on August 22, 2009.

I knew then that I had to tell my parents but I didn't.

My orchestra teacher at High School had asked if I was expecting and I said 'No'. During the time, the orchestra was getting ready for the annual potluck performances held on August 16th.

I had only been back at school for one week and people were talking like crazy.

On Monday August 10 during lunch I felt my first contraction.

My second contraction was on my way home three hours later.

My contractions started to get worst and worst by the hour.

That night I didn't sleep at all and I kept telling my mom I had menstrual cramps.

The contractions just kept coming and coming and then on Wednesday August 12 the contractions were 7 minutes apart I knew this baby was coming.

I was on the floor crying and at 5 pm I told my little brother to call my mom to my room.

My mom came quickly and I told her I was pregnant and in labor. She then told my dad and my dad was extremely mad.

My mom rushed me to the hospital and that's where I found out I was 5 centimeters dilated.

They got me on the fetal monitor and that was the first time I heard my baby's heart.

I hid my pregnancy for the nine months and my parents never knew till when I was literally in labor.

I did many crazy things during my pregnancy. I only had weight gain but no belly.

I thank God each day for giving me a healthy baby.

I am 17 years old now and this is my story of how I gave my parents and family THE BIGGEST SHOCK OF THEIR LIFE!

I am a single mom to this day.
