Surprise Surprise

by Tnki Minaj
(Chicago, Illinois, USA)

Well I was 15 years old when I found out that I was pregnant.

I was not at that time still with the boy who I ended up pregnant by.

I actually had a boyfriend at the time but when I told him that I was pregnant and not by him then we broke up.

The boy I was pregnant by at the time was 21 and I was only 15.

When I found out I was SOOO scared.

I knew when the doctor said that I was pregnant that I was not planning on keeping it.

I felt bad after I got the abortion.

When I got it I was 3 months and four days pregnant.

The guy was very upset with me because one I didn't tell him I was pregnant and two I killed it without his permission.

I regret it, I really do but I was scared.

I felt that i was too young...he was too old...and I wasn't ready to give up my life.

It was selfish of me to just think of me but I can't change that now.

If time could be replayed I would change the hands of time but I can't...I'm sorry baby.

Heartbreaking story
by: Lisa Goldsmith

Tnki, your story is very touching.

You cannot continue to beat yourself up for something that happened in the past.

As others said, hopefully you can use this experience towards something positive and constructive in the future.

Teenage pregnancy is a very difficult thing, I can't imagine how overwhelming it would be to learn you were pregnant at 15 and have to make such a life-changing decision.

Best wishes for the future.

Looking Forward
by: Paul - UK

Tnki, don't feel bad about the past.

Sure you made some mistakes, it's what life is all about, but try to learn from them and move forward.

Maybe some good can come of your experiences if you look for some support or advice groups where you could help to educate other teens about the perils of under-age pregnancy by sharing your story.

Tnki, My How We Grow And Learn in Life!
by: Lance

Dear Tnki,

My heart went out to you when I read your story.

On the Teenage Pregnancy Pages within this web site I talk about how most teenage girls who do get pregnant do so when they are dating boys at least 2 years older then them, and that certainly seemed to have been the case with you are well.

Wise parents will know who their daughters are dating and will warn then against such large age differences and the reasons why it is a danger to them. Your story helps to make this point also.

I can just tell that you have grown and learned so much since the time you were 15, and I commend you for reading this web site that helps us to know how to be better parents for our children, and also shows us how to be better people overall.

I hope your life is going well now and that you are in a place and going in a direction that helps you to be happy and helps you to feel that you are of service to your fellow man.

Thank you again for the special message you shared with us!

Wishing you Happy Parenting (and Happy Living) now and always!

Lance Dobieski
