Parenting Today Is To Parent In The Modern World Using Timeless Parenting Skills Which Are Universally Effective And Which Never Go Out Of Style

“The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is."

C.S. Lewis (1898-1963)

Parenting Today is to parent in a modern world that is ever changing.

The good news is that life is changing at about the same rate for all of us (as expressed in the above quote), though the techies and IT professionals of the world probably do have a slight advantage over the rest of us when it comes to cutting-edge technological change, though not when it comes to parenting changes, Parenting Advice, and the parenting constants which makes these changes manageable.

You see, this modern world is and will continue to change at rates and in ways we can only dream of today, and our children find themselves squarely on the front line of most of those changes.

Their world is changing on a daily basis, which is not always a comforting thought or process for them or for us as their parents.

The good news is that Parenting Today DOES NOT require that we keep up with all of these changes as this would be impossible to do and would be a full-time job in and of itself.

Besides, as soon as we had caught up with the latest changes they would have already changed and passed us up once again.

The good news is that Parenting Today revolves around the constants of good parenting which are true today, were true yesterday, and will continue to be true despite the cultural and social and technological changes that swirl around us.

Some constant principles of proper parenting include Setting Limits, Setting Family Rules, and setting reasonable Family Rules and Rewards for children to understand and follow.

You must also love your children enough to appropriately Discipline them when needed to keep them going in the right and safe direction, and keeping honest and open and effective lines of communication with your children at all times, just to name a few.

These and other constant parenting principles are the ones we touch on over and over again within the pages of this Website.

Parenting Today should be like parenting ever was in the past; it happens one day at a time, one hour at a time, one child’s question or concern or need at a time.

Parenting Today can be likened to growing plants; the methods for growing plants may advance with the modern era, but the basics of planting seeds in the ground, getting them watered and weeding around them, then letting the sun work its magic to produce a slow but steady progression of growth will always stay the same.

The parenting basics of love, respect, concern, Parenting By Example, Authoritative Parenting, open communication with your children, and the myriad of other parenting behaviors should begin to come naturally to us as we progress in our parenting roles and can also be likened unto the seven basic musical notes.

In music there are only 7 basic musical notes to work with: A thru G. Yet with these 7 basic, unchanging musical notes an infinite and boundless array of music has and will continue to be created.

Parenting basics should be the constant safe shelter for Parenting Today. With these basics all parenting issues can be successfully addressed and children can continue to grow safely, happily and comfortably no matter what beat our family may be marching to at any particular time.

Modern Parenting has lots of modern gadgets and a confusing array of wires and what-nots, but the basics of good parenting have not nor ever will be subject to change.

Some parents worry that they won’t understand all of the new gadgets and gizmos that their children are using. That really doesn’t matter as long as parents know that the media and entertainment content their children are accessing is appropriate to the norms and standards your family has set as a guide to live by.

Besides, if there is a piece of modern technology that baffles us parent types, then just find a five year old child as they can usually work anything electronic and most things mechanical to boot :-).

The fact of the matter is that Parenting Today has some unique paradoxes that are not immediately apparent as concerns our children and the modern world they and we are living in.

One such paradox is our children’s ability to communicate on a personal level in the world of texting, Facebook and Twitter.

On the face of it one would imagine that children’s ability for face to face interactions and communications would increase with the devices that speed modern communications, but studies have found quite the opposite is happening.

As children and young adults navigate in their electronic worlds, the real world becomes more elusive to them. Children are actually losing their interpersonal skills as they recede more and more into instant messaging, video game alternative realities and so many activities that happen alone and in isolation from others on a face-to-face and personal level.

Help your child slow down and un-plug every now and again to make sure that they don’t lose the ability to communicate and interact on a personal, one on one level.

Children of all ages need to be reminded of the ‘Big Picture’ of life so that they can enjoy today but be reminded how it is intended to fit into a happy and healthy string of tomorrows, working with people as people, and not just as electronic blips on a screen.

Talk to your child about what they want out of life and how they hope to achieve it. A little extra communication and planning now with your children will help immensely to set the course for where they want to go and how you as the parent can help them to get there.

Let me lay before you just one more example of how we might better understand how Parenting Today uses the eternal basics of life and parenting and applies them to a world of modern appliances yet surrounded by a constant set of human wants and needs.

Modern parenting is very much like the basics of math; addition, subtract, multiplication and division.

The basics of math are not going to change since they are tried and true principles.

Of course our challenge is to understand when to use the principle of addition and when to use the principle of division, and so forth.

Word problems in math are all about figuring out which math principle to use when and why. Once this is known then solving the word problem becomes relatively easy.

So also parenting has its own unique word problems; it’s called LIFE.

Parenting Today requires you to know the parenting basics which are true and unchanging, and then to figure out on a case by case basis which parenting principles to use when, and why.

There are no right answers for every parenting situation, and that is why we must listen to our hearts, minds and intuitions when parenting.

The love of a mother or a father will cut through the noise and lead us to the proper solutions to our parenting perplexities as long as we are willing to take the time to understand the problem, understand the desired outcome, and exercise the love and patience and creativity needed to teach and train our children on a case by case by case basis.

Remember that basic education as exemplified by Kindergarten Activities is largely built on a foundation of repetition of lessons, and so also repetition must be a part of our tutoring and parenting of our children in the life lessons they need to learn from us.

And of course repetition requires parental patience, and parental patience just happens to be one of those never-changing parental principles we have been talking about, and so it goes onward and upward as I’m sure you are beginning to see the parental cycle making its rounds and rounds and on and on we go . . .

If you need some extra help in your Parenting Today dilemmas, here is just one of many excellent and Highly Praised Parenting Programs that can give you a fresh perspective on how to do that.

Proper Parenting has never been easy, but it has always been and will always be, worth it!

There is a lot more parenting wisdom to share. Here is another Parenting Today thought: Take the time to clearly understand the basics of proper parenting and the keys to Parenting Today, so that you can consistently unlock the door of progress for the benefit of your children and family at any time, for any reason, over and over again.

Parenting Today is to learn to be a modern parent raising a family in the modern world. The secret is to realize that good parenting is free, honest, open and real; in other words, good parenting is timeless in its approach and universal in its results.
