"My 18 Year Old Daughter's Pregnancy Story and Miracle Baby"

by Ronda
(Texas, USA)

True Love

True Love

I am the mother of twin girls, two of the loves of my life!

They were born premature at a little over 3 pounds each. What an experience I had during my own pregnancy, and the joy continues!

My girls are almost 21 years of age now.

During the fall of 2006 one of my daughters told me a "shocking" truth...that she was pregnant!

You could have blown me over with a feather to say the least.

This daughter was a little more shy and quiet of the two. She dated a little in school but not that much.

A friend of my daughters that she worked with introduced her to a guy one day. She didn't go out with him but a few times and then one day not long after she met him, she was....pregnant!

My daughter was a high ranking student in school and well on her way so to speak to 'conquer the world'.

At first she was upset and we as parents were upset and were at a loss of what to say or do.

She and her boyfriend went to counseling and they stayed together to have the baby.

On top of this ordeal, I was having personal problems of my own. Her father and I divorced shortly after, and this was something else she had to deal with as well.

I did my best to stand by her and love her unconditionally. Her boyfriend stood by her and they eventually moved in together.

One night a few months later my daughter called me. It was way too early for her to have the baby. She was actually trying to deliver the baby! She was barely 6 months pregnant.

It wasn't long after that, she did in fact have the baby. The baby was born at only 1.8 pounds!

She faced so many obstacles and is lucky to be alive.

She was and is a fighter and definitely a miracle baby.

She is a very bright spot in all of our lives and is so beautiful! We love her and don't know what we would do without her in our lives.

I am so proud of my daughter too.

She went on to finish high school in the top ten percent of her class. My daughter also received a scholarship to attend a local college...she hopes to be a doctor someday. I believe she may be an anesthesiologist!

My daughter is a wonderful mom and daughter and is determined to finish school and get her degree.

I hope you enjoy my story and wish you well with whatever obstacles you are experiencing.

Keep the faith, love your children, tell them you love them and always be there for them whenever they need you.

God bless you all.

From a proud mother & grandmother, aka Nanny Ronda

Sweet and touching story!

Thank you Ronda for sharing your story!

Good for you for standing by your daughter during a difficult time and showing her unconditional love!

I'm sure it was shocking and hard to deal with your daughter's unplanned pregnancy and your own divorce at the same time.

And good for your daughter and her baby's father for being responsible parents.

You must be very proud.

He he, that made me laugh "Nanny Ronda".

Fair enough none it was planned, but it's sounding like it's all coming good.

My parents were quite old when they had me, so maybe that is the reason that I can see the appeal of being a young - not too young - mother.

I hope your daughter can get through college with all that responsibility, because if she does then she's proved that she is made of the right stuff.

Dear Ronda,

This is Lance from the Preteen Thru Teenage Parenting Action Guide and every now and again I personally comment on stories that are shared with us here at the website.

I also personally review and edit for publication all stories and comments so if the format and flow of the stories and comments seem familiar and consistent, they are, and that is due to the editing staff here (me) - but the words and voices in the stories and comments are all yours and those who leave their words for others to read and I don't change a thing unless it is a small spelling correction or what not.

ANYWAYS, What a great story and THANK YOU for sharing it!!

It shows that parenting rarely if ever happens at a convenient time in our lives - you were going through a divorce and your own crisis and yet your daughter now needed you more than ever, and you were there for her!

Just like when we have a newborn baby - our need is for sleep at night and theirs is to be fed every few hours and changed and comforted the rest of the night - Hard Work but always worth it.

Thanks for your story and I hope that more people like you will now start to share their stories and comments too.

The more we give of ourselves, like take a few moments to share a parenting story that will help or inspire someone or comment on a story that touched us and help the author feel our appreciation, then the better we feel and the more we ourselves grow and develop as people and as parents.

Thanks again and y'all come back now, ya hear? (OK, maybe that isn't what they say in Texas, but I gave it a shot any how)

Wishing you Happy Parenting now and always,

Lance Dobieski
