Kindergarten Activities Should Be Understood By Parents Who Can Then Reinforce What Is Being Taught To Ensure Their Children Understand The Basics On Which The Rest Of Their Educational Futures Will Be Founded

“Teaching is the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards."

Anatole France (1844-1924)

Kindergarten Activities are the ways by which basic educational standards are taught to our children. They are the methods used by Kindergarten teachers to teach the basics of reading, writing, math, science and social studies to our Kindergarten-aged youth.

It is these Kindergarten Activities that parents should be familiar with, for those parents who know them can help to repeat and reinforce those same lessons to their own children while at home, thus giving your children a HUGE educational advantage over those children whose parents are not helping to make sure the basics are well learned and understood within the home.

It is not your fault if all parents are not as knowledgeable or proactive as you are, but your children are sure lucky and blessed that you are who you are, for they will be the ones whose educations and futures will be on a very firm foundation thanks to your loving help and practical knowledge of all things Parenting.

Parenting Toddler and children of all ages is made easier, more effective and always More Fun and Rewarding when done properly, and that is made possible when you know what makes it work properly.

Kindergarten teachers have Kindergarten Worksheets to help them, and you as a caring parent have this Preteen Thru Teenage Parenting Action Guide to help you.

We are in the business of making Parenting Magic work for you, and the earlier you start the better and more permanent the results will be.

And don’t forget that every child learns better when they are properly clothed, fed and rested, so make sure that Proper Kindergarten Nutrition is a part of your family’s daily routine.

Learning is best accomplished through repetition.

There is a Romanian Proverb that states: Repetition Is The Mother Of Learning, and so it is.

And that is how Kindergarten Activities aim to teach the basics to our children, through lots and lots of repetition.

I mean lots and lots of repetition.

I mean lots and lots of repetition (sorry, I got a little bit carried away there).

Repetition is the best way to teach just about everything worthwhile in life, from The Meaning of Baby Names, to your Morals And Religious Values, to your Family Rules and Rewards, and even to the basic educational skills found within Kindergarten Activities.

Kindergarten Activities revolve around the basic skills that all children need to learn early in their educational life, and which they will be using for the rest of their lives.

That is why it is so essential for parents to understand which Kindergarten Activities will be used to teach which basic concepts, and then to teach these same concepts AGAIN in the home so the child truly learns the basics and can progress from these basics without any problems.

For example: How important is the ability to read to your child’s future?

This is just one example of a simple but powerful basic skill that your child will begin to learn in Kindergarten.

Parents should read LOTS and LOTS of books to their children to help them know firsthand that reading and learning are fun things to do.

Public libraries are wonderful places to spend time with your young children. I used to check out 10 books a week and read them to my daughter, week after week and month after month, for years.

Was it any wonder she was always one of the top readers in her class?

You can and should do the same for your own children.

Children always learn and do their best when we do what we are preaching to them.

Continuing for just a minute more with this reading example, with larger and larger average class sizes in our modern Kindergartens the children who don’t read well are not getting identified promptly in the classroom, sometimes until years later, and by that time the skill of reading is needed to keep up in all of the child’s classes, not just in a reading class anymore.

The ability to read is a simple foundational skill upon which so many other skills will be built upon.

Parents need to make sure on their own and in the home that their children know how to read and write very well, then the Kindergarten Activities they participate in at school will simply emphasize and build upon these foundational skills further.

A wise parent will not assume that just because you have not heard to the contrary that your child can read and write that they actually can read and write.

Such foundational building blocks are too important to our children’s futures to glibly assume they are properly in place.

Make sure to your own satisfaction and within the confines of your own home that your children have these skills.

As was mentioned before, Kindergarten Skills are best taught through lots of repetition and through lots of follow-up effort by the parents within the home.

The basic first-year foundational skills that Kindergarten Activities teach include the following:

English Language Arts Skills

• Reading
• Literature
• Listening
• Speaking
• Writing
• Research

Mathematics

• Number Systems
• Patterns and Relationships
• Numerical and Algebraic Concepts
• Geometry and Spatial Sense
• Measurements
• Probability and Statistics

Social Studies

• Basic Economic Ideas (Production, Distribution and Consumption)
• Geography (People, Places and Environments)
• Government (Power, Authority and Laws)
• History (Time, Continuity and Change)

This is a pretty impressive set of skills, especially for a Kindergarten class to tackle.

Yet these really are the basic concepts, some of which don’t seem so basic once you write them down, that are being taught in Kindergartens today.

Are you beginning to see why parental involvement is a must for you to be comfortable that your child’s understanding of ‘the basics’ is sound and complete?

Kindergarten Activities that teach these skills include:

- Making a ruler out of paper and ink to learn math skills and numbers

- Making a paper bus out of colorful pieces of paper shapes that teach colors, shapes (geometry) and transportation realities

- Making an ABC book to teach about the ABC’s, literature and writing

- Playing with a real clock to tell the time, understand numbers, and begin the concept of History

- Make a Chinese New Year Lantern out of colorful paper and glue to learn about Geography, Peoples and Cultures

The list of possible Kindergarten Activities that teach these basic educational concepts goes on and on, and it is these types of fun and engaging activities that will help your child to learn the basic Kindergarten skills outlines above, and which you can review, emphasize and repeat at home with your young ones as needed.

And just to end this section with a review of how important repetition is to learning, and the important part it plays in Kindergarten Activities, by the time Kindergarten is over 22 of the 25 most important Kindergarten skills and concepts will have been taught to our young children multiple times during a normal year of Kindergarten.

In other words, 88% of the subjects covered in the last month of Kindergarten are reviews and repetitions of subjects already covered earlier in the school year.

Kindergarten children will be taught how to follow Oral Directions (Listening Skills) during the months of September, October, November, January, February, March, April and May, or 8 of 9 months.

Note: Kindergarten in the United States usually starts in September and ends in May.

Kindergarten children will be taught how to write full names and words using both capital and lowercase letters (Writing Skills) during the months of November, December, January, February, March, April and May, or 7 of 9 months.

Kindergarten children will be taught how to tell time and how to recognize coins and understand their values (Math Skills) from February thru May, and how to Add and Subtract up to 10 (Math Skills again) from October thru May, or 8 of 9 months.

And guess what?

The first few weeks of the First Grade will be used to review what was learned in Kindergarten, and the first few weeks of the Second Grade will be used to review what was learned in the First Grade, and so the repetitive nature of learning goes.

So get involved and understand what your child is learning in Kindergarten and some of the Kindergarten Activities used to teach them these principles.

Repeat these lessons in the home and make sure your child has the educational foundation needed to not only succeed, but to thrive and achieve later on anything worthwhile they may want out of their education and out of their life.

The best lessons in education and in life are learned early in life, usually in the home, and are ALWAYS repeated over and over again for emphasis and effect.

There is a lot more parenting wisdom to share. Here is another Kindergarten Activities thought: Be the Parent who is aware of the skills that will be taught and emphasized in Kindergarten so that your Parental involvement coupled with lesson and concept repetition within the home will make it possible for your Kindergartner to be fully and squarely grounded in the educational foundation needed to be successful and happy in both education and in life at any time, for any reason, over and over again.

Kindergarten Activities Are Used To Teach The Basic Skills Needed To Start A Formal Education And Repetition Within The Home Can Only Help To Solidify What Is Being Taught Until It Is Truly And Fully Learned By The Ones We Love And To Whom We Owe Our All.
