Choosing the Perfect Name for Our Little Princess

Aubrielle - 10 1/2 months

When my husband and I found out we were having a baby (finally!!!!), we were elated.

I was convinced it would be a girl, and spent hours looking through baby name books and searching online for girls' names.

When I was 20 weeks pregnant, my husband and I went to the doctor to find out what the baby's sex was. I was so excited, I took off the whole day of work!

My husband and I had planned to go start our baby registry after the visit.

The moment had finally arrived.

Our doctor looked at the baby on the monitor, explaining that this was the leg, that was a hand, blah, blah, lol. The wait was killing us.

Finally, he says, "well, the baby's not in the right position, so I can't tell you what it is."

We were so disappointed. I went back to work the next day and scheduled an appointment to have an ultrasound done at a professional ultrasound clinic for the very next day.

We make it to the appointment and eagerly await the news. Just a few seconds after the technician started the ultrasound, she said, "Yep, it's a girl!"

After that, I was full swing into finding a name for her.

I wanted it to be something special, something unique; a name that I had never heard before.

I searched through Italian, French, American names and found nothing that I really liked or that we could agree upon.

Some of the names that were a possibility were Ava, Lexi, Alexa, Elle, and Ella.

Finally, a week after finding out the sex, we settled on a name.

My husband and I were sitting in bed when I handed him the laptop and told him to start looking, since everything I proposed he shot down. He came across a page with a few names on it that he was considering - Aubrey was one he liked, and though I liked it, too, I thought it was too short, too boring for our baby.

Gavrielle (Italian form of "Gabrielle") was another, but I wasn't quite sure about him pronouncing it with the proper accent...from that, I came up with "Aubrielle" (I know it's an actual name, but until then, I had never heard of it).

We both agreed that this was our baby's name.

It was unique, it was elegant, classy, and perfect for our little princess-to-be!

I absolutely love her name and know that we couldn't have picked one that was more suitable.

It's a joy naming the young ones
by: Anonymous

It is always a joy when we try to find out a suitable name for our children.

Initially I could not find any suitable name for my baby. I always get the baby names at the last moment.

Very much like you.

Can anyone tell us why this happens? Maybe we think too much?

Then I remember what Shakespeare wrote, "What's in a name? By any other name a rose would still smell sweet."

A unique and beatiful name.

Laurel,

With a name like Laurel, it seems fitting that you would choose an elegant name for your little one.

When I moved into my new home last year, I heard one of the neighborhood dads calling his daughter to come in for dinner.

As he yelled for "Aubrey" (short for Aubrielle I later found out) I thought it was one of the most unusual and pretty little girls names I had heard.

A very pretty name

You have made your daughter feel so special!

That is certainly a great start for a relationship with a girl.

And it is a name she can grow up with and always enjoy.

Beautiful name

I love the name you chose for your princess.

It seems you put 2 names together, Aubrey and Gabrielle.

I too like unique names that are beautiful and not too short.

I named my princesses Celeste & Sienna.

Women Are The Family Catalyst

Laurel,

I laughed when I read that you gave your husband the computer and asked him to start looking at baby names. I laughed because most things in a family get done once the wife finally decides it's time to get it done.

We men are good guys but its not until the wife insists that we really get a move on with things, unless it is fishing or watching football - we can do those things fine on our own.

Congrats on the name. I like it and like that it was decided a little bit by the both of you.

Just remember that she IS your little Princess, even after she becomes a Teenager - lol

Thanks again for sharing; it is fun to read what others have to say.
