Greetings from the Staff at Preteen-Thru-Teenage-Parenting-Action-Guide.com! ‘We’ are very happy you have taken the time to get to know ‘Us’ better. The truth is that ‘We’ and ‘Us’ are actually ‘Me’. I’m sure you could have guessed it but for those who don’t know, most Web sites are designed, created, written, edited and in every other way conceived and carried out by a single person. In the case of this Preteen Thru Teenage Parenting Action Guide, that person is ‘Me’. So who am I? My name is Lance Dobieski and I am a forty-something father of two who was born, raised and still resides in Southern California.
Here is a picture of me enjoying the green hills of Springtime in Southern California. The picture is from a distance so as to not scare the children who may be looking over your shoulder as you read this page (Ha Ha Ha). But really I am just an ordinary person like any other person, and I hope this picture reflects that. I am the father to a 19 year old daughter who attends a local California State University and who still lives at home, and of a 14 year old son who is a freshman in High School. I have been married for 20 years to a beautiful Mexican-American lady whose family immigrated to the United States when she was a very young girl and both Spanish and English can be heard within our home. My wife is a stay-at-home mom and I am a fully engaged and dedicated father. I have two Bachelor Degrees and an MBA Degree in International Business. I speak English, Spanish and French (in that order), but believe in hands-on experience and common sense over formal education any day of the week. And this especially applies to Parenting the children we love and cherish. My education was needed to provide for my family, but my love and passion is to help people be happy, especially the children of the world. And that leads us to why I created, support, believe in and am fully dedicated to this Web site.
When I got married so many moons ago there was no way of knowing how much I would enjoy being a Parent. I knew that I had a lot of love in my heart to give to others but had no idea how that love would translate into being a father to my children. It seems that by some luck of love and nature I had a real knack for being a Parent. I apologize for the immodesty of this statement but it turned out to be true and there is no other way to put it. I took to Parenting like a fish takes to water. I was involved in every aspect of the Parenting experience from changing diapers to picking out baby cloths to helping my daughter play the piano and climb trees with reckless abandon to helping my son learn to ride a bike, ride a skateboard, ride a scooter, ride a skim board, ride a boogie board, and on and on. I became the Tiger Cub Troup leader for my son’s Cub Scout Pack and co-taught a nursery class full of two to four year old children with my wife at church. I then taught the eight to ten year old Preteen boys for years, then the twelve to fourteen year old Preteen and Teenage boys and girls, and then I finally taught the sixteen to eighteen year old Teenagers together. For the past six years I have taught and continue to teach a daily one hour class on Religion and Ethics to fifteen to twenty High School aged Teenagers and I love it! And the students seem to love me too! Having taught and interacted with all of these Toddlers and Preteens and Teenagers over the past seventeen years, and having helped to raise my own children which is still a work in progress, has given me many useful and helpful insights about myself as a Parent and about the Parenting process overall. A few years ago a family friend who himself was raising small children at the time suggested I write a book on Parenting. I dismissed the idea immediately though my friend insisted it was a great idea. As the hands of time have moved forward, my desires remained strong to help others get the most out of their Parenting experiences, to help the children of the world who would directly benefit from better Parenting skills overall, and with my fortunate Introduction to SBI, these forced combined have at last motivated me to take action with the creation of this Preteen Thru Teenage Parenting Action Guide.
My goal is to add a few new pages to this site each week - and some weeks it actually happens! When I come home each day I am greeted with hugs from both of my children who then proceed to talk my ear off about anything and everything. My children not only honor and respect me, they actually like me. I of course think the world of them in return, and we all enjoy a very happy and fulfilling family and home life together. That you all may experience this Parental joy and happiness is my hope and fondest wish, and the daily motivation behind this Preteen Thru Teenage Parenting Action Guide.
